Bora Bora is the jewel of French Polynesia . This beautiful volcanic island is often considered one of the best diving trips in the world. The island is perfectly well preserved and the magnificent barrier reef surrounding the island as well as its wonderful lagoon offer around fifteen exceptional dive sites.

Most diving sites offer different and exceptional experiences. You can dive with manta rays in Anau while you will dive with sharks on Tapu, or experience a high-visibility drift dive on Teavanui and or swim with humpback whales on Tupai. Some of these sites are among best diving sites of french polynesia.

Tupai

Recommended level: Diver Padi Advanced or Dive Level 2

Type of dive: Ocean, desert island, atoll, 60 min boat

Maximum Depth: 40 meters

The beautiful heart-shaped island of Tupai, is a deserted island located north of Bora Bora. Only a few dive shops in Bora Bora make the trip on this beautiful island with limpid waters. Note that from August to November, humpback whales come to breed in the waters of Polynesia and like to bask in Tupai. The island therefore offers the opportunity to dive with humpback whales. Tupitipiti

Recommended Level : Advanced PADI Diver or Level 2

Dive type : Ocean, falling, drift diving

Maximum Depth : 40 meters

This magnificent falling, located just south-east of bora bora, is only accessible by private boat and enjoys exceptional visibility. Only a few diving centers in Bora Bora such as Top Dive travel to Tupitipiti. At about 20 meters deep, numerous caves and canyons shelter numerous nurse sharks, reef sharks and gorgonians. Towards the end of the dive, an immense wall of colored coral awaits you to dive with huge napoleons.

Anau

Recommended level : Padi Openwater Diver or Level 1

Type of dive : Lagoon, Falling

Depth at anchor : 6 meters

Maximum Depth : 25 meters

This manta ray dive begins in the middle of a marvelous garden of multicolored coral and continue on a soft falling on which innumerable corals are inhabited by a rich local fauna. But it is for its manta rays that this site is particularly renowned. The site is perfect for diving with manta rays because they regularly come to be cleaned but also to relax and feed. The dive site is now protected and it is only possible to dive there in the morning.

Tapu

Recommended level : PADI Advanced Diver or Level 2

Type of diving : Ocean, Coral reef

Depth at anchor : 10 meters

Maximum Depth : 40 meters

Close to the Teavanui pass, the famous site of Tapu is particularly renowned for shark diving. You will meet reefs sharks and lemons sharks followed by their hundreds of fishes. There are hundreds of them gathering there. Beyond the sharks, you can dive with Titan Trigerfishes, napoleons, turtles and huge shoals tropical fish.

Teavanui Pass

Recommended level : PADI Open water level 1 diver

Type of diving : Ocean, lagoon, drifting, falling

Depth at anchor : 10 meters

Maximum Depth : 30 meters

The dive site is located on the only pass of Bora Bora. You can dive with white tip sharks, schools of trevally, tunas, barracudas and manta rays. The site also has very beautiful blue corals that can only be seen here.

Haapiti

Recommended level : PADI Open water diver or level 1

Type of dive : Ocean

Depth at anchor : 10 meters

Maximum Depth : 30 meters

Haapiti is a gentle slope whose wildlife, very diverse, has settled in the numerous small tunnels and canyons covering the dive site. Three types of sharks regularly visit the site. You will certainly come across black tip sharks, lemon sharks and large gray sharks, but you can also see big napoleons and triggerfishes.

Muri Muri

Recommended level : PADI Advanced Diver or Level 2

Type of dive : Ocean, coral plateau, potentially drifting

Depth at anchor : 10 meters

Maximum Depth : 40 meters

This beautiful dive, set on a large coral plateau descends on a large bench of sands. You can dive with gray sharks, turtles, barracudas and immense banks of trevally.

Toopua

Recommended level : PADI Open water diver or level 1

Type of dive : Lagoon, falling, potentially drifting

Depth at anchor : 5 meters

Maximum Depth : 30 meters

Toopua is particularly known for the high density of marine life on the diving site. Enormous anemones inhabited by equally imposing clown fish and a multitude of tropical fish lives on the spot. On the sandbank located at bottom of the fall, the stingrays and leopards come to rest in the midst of tropical soles and scorpion fish. At the end of the dive, you will be able to observe a large multicolored coral garden.

Aquarium Bora Bora

Recommended level : Beginner Diver and Try Dive

Type of dive : Lagoon

Depth at anchor : 4 meters

Maximum Depth : 5 meters

This dive site is particularly suitable for beginner divers who will appreciate the density of tropical fish. The site is also inhabited by many morays, stingrays and fishes of all kinds. A very good diving site to learn scuba diving and to try diving in Bora Bora.

Eagle ray station

Recommended level : Beginner Diver and Baptism

Type of dive : Lagoon

Maximum Depth : 10 meters

Due to its depth and ease of access, the spot is mainly known for snorkeling. It is however very interesting for an easy dive with leopard rays also called eagle rays. Indeed, they are basking on this dive site and the show is truly majestic.

Grand Canyon

Recommended level : Beginner Diver and Baptism

Type of dive : Lagoon

Depth at anchorage : 7 meters

Maximum Depth : 17 meters

Grand Canyon is a beautiful diving site. You can see lemon sharks and eagle rays. The asperities and small tunnels of the site offer beautiful passages.
