Learn how to scuba dive starts with the Open Water Diver Course. If you have always wanted to see the magic underwater world, to live new experiences in the aquatic environment and discover another form of life, this course is definitely for you. The PADI Open Water Diver Course, is simply the most popular course to learn scuba diving. It should be noted that Scuba Schools International’s Open Water Diver offers courses almost similar to those at PADI.

What is the Open Water Diver Course ?

This is a certification given by the PADI and SSI Diving Federations. The purpose of it is to teach you to do something magical, that is, to dive. Under the supervision of an instructor, you take your first breath under water and learn all the tips and tricks that will make you a certified diver capable of diving up to 18 meters deep. To register, you must be at least 10 years old, know how to swim of course and be in good physical health. No prior experience in diving is necessary.

Diving equipment

The Open Water Diver, you can learn to master the basic diving equipment mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy vest, diving bottle and some basic accessories. Be aware that the dive gear you use varies depending on the environment, for example, the combination in a tropical place will not be the same as in cold water.

How is open water scuba diving organized?

Through this course you will realize that scuba diving is something addictive. The Open Water Diver is built on three different phases:

  • The theory part of scuba diving : Learning theoretical knowledge that allows to assimilate the basic principles of diving. In a global way the idea is to study the science of scuba-diving no worry, you don’t need any prior knowledge and it is not hard to study. You will learn how pressure works while scuba diving and how it impact your body, how to choose a diving equipment that will suit you and to plan a dive to the smallest detail using five theoretical chapters. To ensure that all these basic principles are understood, two small questionnaires are planned before going into the water. This course is available in several ways, it is possible to follow it online as well as face-to-face in a diving club.
  • The confined dives : The realization of dives in protected environment to learn the basic techniques of scuba diving. It is here that we begin to get to the heart of the matter. You learn everything from assembling diving equipment to emptying the mask without going to the surface. You will also have to share the air of a bottle with your partner to dive to prepare you for emergency situations. At the end of these five dives in protected environment you will be ready to dive in a natural environment.
  • The Open Water Dives : The best way to learn scuba diving is to go directly at sea, underwater.. Accompanied by your PADI instructor, you will do four dives in the wild.

These will allow you to live fully and to experience what is a scuba diving, in other words a great adventure. In addition, if you already practiced diving during a dive, some exercises can be credited for part of your Open Water.

What to do after getting your Open Water Diver?

Once your scuba diving level one is done, you will probably want to move on to the next step, the Advanced Open Water Diver Course. This level is for you to progress in diving. This course will allow you to improve your diving technique and your ease under water with five dives. With the Advanced Open Water, two dives are imposed: a deep dive that will allow you to dive up to 30 meters deep, and an orientation dive that will give you the keys to navigate underwater.
