Elba island Isola Elba in Italian, located between Corsica and Toscana, is the biggest island of the Toscana’s archipelago. This protected area, is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park Elba and six other islands. The island offers a rich Historical Heritage: Roman remains, beautiful sandy beach, secret cove, jagging coastline, cliff plunging into the sea, pine forest, rocky mountains and of course beautiful underwater dive spots. All of this make Elba Island the perfect place for holiday lovers: amateur of boating, scuba diving, trekking and bird watching.
The island of Elba is also a small paradise for the practice of scuba diving. It is not without reason that a large number of diving centers have been established here offering half-day or full-day excursions. The peculiar topography of the island of Elba makes the experience fascinating. Discover diving sites, numerous and varied, accessible from the shore but mainly from the sea. When to go diving in Elba Island ?
You sould know that the island is a bit crowded during summer time. There are ferries leaving from Piombino Italy or Bastia Corse. During the summer, water is hotter but you will encounter many more divers than during spring or fall. That’s why, for a better experience, you should go in May, June, September or October.
Diving conditions
Visibility: good all year long. Between 10 meters and 30 meters.
Current: very low on most of the dive spots, no worries !
Diver level: Elba is a very good choice for beginners and experienced diver. Some dive sites are super easy and will be perfect for people who want to discover scuba diving. Others are more technical and go from 30 meters to 70 meters deep.
Water temperature: it goes from 15°C in winter from 25°C in the summer. In May and June, a 7 mm wetsuit.
