Twenty thousand leagues under sea

1954

For the record, this film was the first blockbuster from Disney to perform all live action sequences. In 1868, in the world’s oceans, many ships just sink in strange circumstances. The survivors of these shipwrecks claim that a mysterious monster that rammed the vessels is accountable for this phenomenon. In San Francisco, an expedition is planned to hunt down the monster.

The Silent World

1955

This documentary was made to enable million of people to discover the sea and its mysteries. Cousteau and his crew take us aboard the Calyspo to explore seas all around the world Mediterranean Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. World Without Sun

1964

This second documentary film directed by Jacques-Yves Cousteau has the goal to attempt to create an environment in which men could live and work on the sea floor. This amazing aventure named Precontinent takes place in the red sea along the Soudan seaside.

The big blue

1988

Luc Bessons’s Masterpiece, the film narrates the rivalry of two friends who grew up together in Greece and have always shared a passion for apnea. Twenty years have passed, we meet again with the two men and their rivalry that kept increasing throughout the years. The world championship apnea competition is an opportunity for the two men to meet up, explore both their limits and the oceans’ in which they dive.

Abyss

1989

Another great director is accountable for this movie: James Cameron. Cameron plunges us into the depths of the ocean and its mysteries. An American submarine sinks into the Atlantic, a research team and an oil platfom crew try to locate the ship, but at the bottom of the ocean, they face a mysterious new species.

Sphere

1998

Pure science fiction movie. US scientists are undertaking an underwater expedition which aims at observing a sphere-shaped spaceship immersed for three hundred years at the bottom of the sea. Once arrived at destination, the sphere mysteriously opens.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

2004

What a quaint scenario here, Wes Anderson tells the story of Steve Zissou, an eccentric oceanographer who wants to destroy the jaguar shark that ate his partner Esteban du Plantier. This movie in which the main character wears a red cap is a tribute to Jacques Cousteau.
